Opening ceremony for 1MW photovoltaic power production system by Korea Southern Power Company,
Korea Southern Power Co, LTD (KOSPO) (CEO, Lee Sang Ho) held a completion ceremony for 1MW photovoltaic power production system at Susan Water Purification Plant, located Namdong-Gu, Inchon. The system utilized the rooftops and unused space around the plant.
The photovoltaic power system was installed utilizing unused space around Susan Water Purification Plant such as the roofs of filter basin for water production facility and upper portions of water reservoir. The system will generate 127 million kWh of clean energy. This equals to annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 800 ton and planting 288,000 pine trees. Furthermore, it has the substitution effect of replacing 2000 barrels of crude oil annually.
According to Song Ki In (Manager, Climate Change Reaction Team), “By utilizing the unused space such as rooftops and the upper portions of facility, we have suggested a new model for the photovoltaic power business. This power plant will be great for education and public relations for understanding the needs of new and renewal energy and low carbon green growth to local community and students.”
KOSPO has been operating total of 4MW photovoltaic power production system in Busan, Yeong-wol (Gangwon-do), and Hadong (Gyeongsangnam-do), and is planning to build 10MW class photovoltaic power production system in Busan and Gunsan (Jeollabuk-do).
