They also presented birthday gifts to some children at the rehabilitation facility.
While the scorching heat continues for weeks across the country, members of volunteer group ‘Gruteogi’ (meaning ‘stump’) at Daesung Energy (President: Kang Suk-ki) conducted on August 10 volunteer activities of offering cool red bean sherbets to over 200 children at Jayu Rehabilitation Center, a facility for rehabilitating mentally retarded children, in Daegu.
Though they were in summer vacation, about a dozen members of the volunteer group and their families produced and provided red bean sherbets to children at the rehabilitation facility who have little chance to get access to cool red bean sherbets due to geographical conditions.
Members of the volunteer group and their families spent hours with children, enjoying red bean sherbets they prepared. And they also presented cakes and gifts to children who celebrated birthdays.
Leader Han Seung-hun of the ‘Gruteogi’ group said, “We feel happiness in faces of children who are smiling while taking cool red bean sherbets on this summer day when temperature reaches as high as 36℃.” Pledging to continue volunteer activities for under privileged people, he added, “I hope we can have deeper interest and share happiness with neighbors who are facing adverse situation at this difficult time.”
