The company received certification for its container valve and thermo-sensitive pressure relief device.
Youngdo Industrial (CEO: Lee Gwang-ho) received certification from an authentication institution in Europe for its container valve and thermo-sensitive pressure relief device used for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
For the certification, Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) identified adequacy of the container valve and pressure relief device in conjunction with TUV SUD, one of authentication organizations in Europe, based on European criteria.
The certified products are core components of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that attract attention as next generation eco-friendly vehicles. Before obtaining the certification, the company developed these products for 26 months.
The container valve used for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is known to be impossible to develop without adopting special design and accumulated knowhow for dealing with ultra high pressure because it operates at working pressure of 700bar (approximately 713.8kgf/cm²).
So, only a small number of companies in other countries have developed the container valve so far. Youngdo Industrial filed patent applications for 2 related technologies, and it is expected to contribute to improving competitiveness of components for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the world market.
TUV SUD concluded an agreement with KGS on June 14, 2013 through TUV SUD Czech, its subsidiary in Czech, for collaboration for safety and performance tests of gas components for hydrogen, natural gas and LPG-fueled vehicles.
