The company will install total energy solution, including solar photovoltaic power, LED lightings, geothermal heat and building energy management (BEM) system.
LG Electronics (CEO: Koo Bon-joon) will take part in the project of constructing eco-friendly housing complex that can drastically reduce energy. LG Electronics is the first company that provides total energy solution to an apartment complex in Korea.
LG Electronics recently concluded an MOU with IK Industrial Development, a construction company, for constructing an energy-saving green apartment complex. Under the MOU, LG Electronics will preferentially supply eco-friendly and energy-saving ‘total energy solution’ to an apartment complex with about 1,400 households projected to be built in Goijeong-dong, Busan by 2016.
The total energy solution is consisted of air conditioning systems, solar modules, LED lamps, geothermal heat-based heating and cooling systems, and building energy management (BEM) system that centrally controls these facilities.
Aiming to construct an energy-saving and eco-friendly housing complex, these companies will improve efficiency in managing buildings and energy by actively using renewable energies, such as geothermal heat and solar photovoltaic power, and adopting BEM system at the apartment complex.
These companies will install heat exchangers underground for geothermal heat-based air conditioning systems at public facilities in the complex, such as senior citizen center and nursery, to use geothermal heat for heating in winter and cooling in summer.
And these companies will install solar photovoltaic power facilities on rooftops of apartment buildings to use power for common facilities in the complex. They will also install LED lamps in parking lots, pedestrian passages and shelters to save energy.
The new apartment complex will be able to reduce consumption of energy by over 30% by installing BEM system that can centrally control electricity, lighting, security and disaster prevention systems as well as air conditioning systems. The BEM system can diagnose troubles and immediately repair glitches by monitoring operating conditions of these equipments around the clock.
The projected eco-friendly apartment complex is expected to contribute to preventing global warming by reducing emission of carbon dioxide by more than 20%.
LG Electronics is currently participating in projects of building smart green campus at Silla University and Masan University, and it sealed an MOU with ‘Value Hotel Worldwide’ in June this year for installing advanced energy conservation solution. Through these projects, the company can further solidify its position as a comprehensive air conditioning system company.
Managing Director Lee Sang-yun, head of Korea B2B Group of LG Electronics, said, “The MOU concluded with IK Industrial Development demonstrated once again excellent quality and energy efficiency of LG Electronics’ heating, cooling and air conditioning products. The company will further enhance its status as an eco-friendly comprehensive air conditioning system company that leads energy conservation endeavor.”
