Global warming is the phenomenon where the earth’s surface temperature rises as greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxperature has shown a sharp increase. (0.60C rise in the past 45 years since 1960 versus 0.14C rise between 1900~1960)
The figure below is a comparison of the average temperature this past 10 years (2000~2009) versus the average from 1951 to 1980. You can notice the global rise in temperature, especially in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
