  • The new AMR system (left) and equipment for supplying solar photovoltaic power to pressure regulation rooms installed in January this year
Daesung Energy Develops Large Capacity Remote AMR System
It enables Daesung Energy to efficiently manage supply of gas to major gas consumption customers in real time. Daesung Energy (President: Kang Seok-gi) has developed the large capacity remote automatic meter reading (AMR) system and it recently began to commercialize it by initially installing at 30 customers that require management. Daesung Energy developed the new AMR system jointly with Prime Solution (President: Choi Seok-jae) that can remotely read gas meters. Adopting technology of multi-functional data logger of the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, the two companies developed the new AMR system that runs at low power. And they ensured reliability of the new system by conducting field tests for 6 months. As it uses existing SCADA systems without installing separate control system, the company can operate the AMR systems by simply installing them at required sites. And operation of new AMR systems requires neither additional management manpower nor equipment. While other telemetering systems are designed to be compatible only with facilities manufactured by same companies, the new AMR system developed by Daesung Energy is compatible with facilities of other companies, widening its usability. Also, it significantly improved economic efficiency by dramatically reducing initial installation and maintenance costs compared to other telemetering devices. Executive Director Lee Seok-hyeong for Technology Division at Daesung Energy who played leading role in developing the new system said, “Now that we developed the AMR system, we can manage supply of gas in real time without visiting customers to read meters. The new system helps us analyze patterns of using gas by customers and manage potential customers who may change to other fuels.” The company expects that the new AMR system will improve efficiency in managing debentures, and it said it will continuously develop new technologies adopting information technology to reinforce competitiveness. In preparation for blackout, Technology Division at Daesung Energy developed a device for supplying power to pressure regulation rooms using solar photovoltaic power, and the company installed it at pressure regulation rooms in January this year. Meanwhile, Daesung Energy is assuring stable supply of city gas by developing smart integrated safety systems, including the industry-first smart remote terminal unit (RTU) for monitoring pressure regulators, multi-functional data logger, and pipe cover damage detector, enhancing efficiency in management.
